In 2017 London Metropolitan Orchestra recorded Klaus Badelt’s score for Legend of the Demon Cat.

This story is set in China during the Tang Dynasty (618–907). A demon cat appears and breaks the peace of the capital, Chang’an City, causing a series of strange events.

Klaus Badelt scored for a 40 piece string section with single woodwind (all with doubles). Brass lined up as 3 horns, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba. Janice Graham led LMO and the sessions were conducted by Andy Brown. Orchestrations were by Bob Elhai and the recordings took place at Abbey Road Studio 1 with Jake Jackson as engineer.

Legend of the Demon Cat, directed by Chen Kaige and distributed by Emperor Motion Pictures Moonstone Entertainment was released in 2017 in China and Japan.
