Andy Brown
MUSIC DIRECTOR
Andy Brown is the Founder and Music Director of the London Metropolitan Orchestra. His recent appearances with LMO include London’s Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall (live recording and BBC broadcast), St John’s Smith Square, St Martins in the Fields, Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, various UK Festivals, the Electric Proms from Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall (live on BBCTV) and internationally – Cinemusic Gstaad, Switzerland, and an 8 city concert tour of Japan.
He has directed numerous film and TV scores with LMO including Gangs of New York (which received 10 Oscar nominations), Layer Cake, Stardust, The Young Victoria, Babylon A.D, The Boat That Rocked, Kick-Ass, About Time, 47 Ronin, Shaun the Sheep, The Princess, Perfect Planet, and Magic Mike III.
Andy’s credits as Musical Director includes albums with Joan Armatrading, Belinda Carlisle, Ricardo Montaner, Marco Antonio Solis, The Cinematic Orchestra, Pet Shop Boys, Heather Small and Fall Out Boy. Andy recently broadcast live on BBC radio with Annie Lennox and made a major European and US tour with The Last Shadow Puppets, with live TV performances in Paris and New York.
Andy has 2 children – Natalie and Ross with LMO pianist Sally Heath. He enjoys sailing his yacht Irene May in the Greek islands on vacations.
Matthew Slater
Creative DIRECTOR
Matt Slater has worked with the LMO as a professional composer for over 25 years and now joins the management team as Creative Director.
In 2012, Matthew Slater received widespread acclaim for his work on the television series “Endeavour,” a prequel to the iconic detective drama “Inspector Morse.” His hauntingly beautiful and suspenseful compositions provided the perfect backdrop to the intricate narratives and complex characters, elevating the overall viewing experience.
Following the success of “Endeavour,” Slater continued to enchant listeners with his music in the critically acclaimed television series “Grace.” Based on the novels by Peter James, “Grace” follows the life of detective Roy Grace as he solves intricate crimes. Once again, Slater’s ability to evoke a wide range of emotions through his music proved instrumental in heightening the tension, adding depth to the characters, and creating an immersive atmosphere.
Matthew is a regular and highly experienced conductor in London, working with the city’s finest musicians. Matthew is found regularly scoring productions for ITV, BBC, Channel 4 and many other global channels.
Matthew is also managing director of Charts of London, a premiere orchestration and music preparation company based in the heart of London, working on large scale productions including Emancipation featuring Will Smith for Apple and Black Panther II for Marvel.
Guy Button
Orchestral Manager
Guy Button is Orchestral Manager at the London Metropolitan Orchestra as well as regularly featuring as a violinist within the ensemble. He enjoys a varied career both as a violinist and fixer and has been part of the LMO team since 2022.
As a recording artist he has worked with an eclectic range of musicians including Taylor Swift, Jonny Greenwood, The National, Dodie, Ollie Murs, Fall Out Boy, Koven, Carly Paradis and Boy George. Recent film and TV soundtracks he has featured on include Chevalier, Alien: Covenant, Matrix Resurrections, Emancipation, Stranger Things, Lady Chatterley’s Lover and the final series of Endeavour.
He performs regularly with many of the leading ensembles in the U.K on both modern and period instruments, including the English Concert, London Chamber Orchestra and London Contemporary Orchestra. He was a founding member of 12 Ensemble and his arrangement of Fljotavik by Sigur Ros, which features on their album Death and the Maiden has received more than a million streams worldwide.
When he isn’t performing, Guy’s main passion is cricket where he follows the fortunes of the England team through thick and thin and occasionally gets the opportunity to captain a freelance team of musicians as they take on members of various U.K. orchestras.
Taia Curran
Senior Administrator
Taia Curran is the Senior Administrator at London Metropolitan Orchestra since spring 2022. She met Andy Brown while working as an assistant at Charts of London under Matthew Slater and soon became a part of the LMO team. With the passion for music, maths and organisation, Taia found her dream job, assisting Andy with all the LMO projects.
As a professional violinist, specialising in historical performance, Taia regularly plays with Academy of Ancient Music in high profile venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Centre.
Taia’s job at London Metropolitan Orchestra involves project payments and accounts, data organisation and handling release agreements between musicians and production companies. Some of the major films and TV series she worked on are Emancipation, The Princess, Endeavour Series 9, Endeavour Album, Grace Series 3, as well as live concerts with Ilan Eshkeri – Space Station Earth and The Snowman & Snowdog concert.
Recently, Taia married up and coming composer Thomas J. Curran, who is also an orchestrator at Charts of London. As a part time job and hobby, they both enjoy growing their successful YouTube channel “FanTaisia Ambience”, creating fantasy music videos for a wide audience across the world. They both reside in Buckinghamshire, enjoying the countryside and commuting to London for work.
