In 2016 London Metropolitan Orchestra recorded Swallows and Amazons – a BBC films production based on the classic best selling children’s book by Arthur Ransome.
Composer Ilan Eshkeri scored for 2 string groups of 15 pieces and 30 pieces, with single woodwind (with doubles), 2 horns, flugelhorn, tenor and bass trombone, harp and timps. Tom Kemp led LMO which was conducted by Andy Brown and Steve Mclaughlin co-produced the sessions with Ilan Eshkeri.
Swallows and Amazons was recorded at Abbey Road Studio 1 and Angel Studio 1. It is directed by Philippa Lowthorpe and produced by Nick Barton, Nick O’Hagen and Joe Oppenheimer.
