Since 2021 London Metropolitan Orchestra has been recordings Matt Slater’s score for the prime time ITV series “Grace” – a story of a drama following Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, a hard-working police officer who has given his life to the job.
Season 1 – Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead was scored for a 44 piece string section, which were overlaid by a quartet of solo cello. LMO was led by Rita Manning and conducted by the composer. The session was engineered by Paul Golding and took place at Air Lyndhurst Hall.
Season 2 – Not Dead Enough , Dead Man’s Footsteps and Dead Tomorrow was scored for a 34 piece string section with solo cello played by Caroline Dale. The orchestra was led by Janice Graham and John Mills and conducted by the composer. The sessions took place in Angel Studio 1 and The Tech Park, Bognor Regis.
Season 3 is now being composer and recorded. Scored for a 73 piece symphonic orchestra, LMO recorded the first episode on the 4th of January 2023 in Air Lyndhurst Hall. During the session Daisy Chute sang an excerpt of “Voi Che Sapete” aria (Marriage of Figaro – W.A..Mozart), which will be featured in the film. The second episode of the season will be recorded at the end of the month.
Grace is produced by Second Act Productions, Tall Story Pictures and Vaudeville Productions for ITV. Season 3 will be back on screen by Spring 2023.
